Seachem Matrix
Hi!
I have bought a bottle of Seachem Matrix. According to the marketing description of the product it is supposed to help lower nitrates (among other things) by harboring areobic & anaerobic bacteria. Quote from the product site: Quote:
How long does it take for the media to establish anaerobic bacteria that will help lower the nitrates and how effective is it at doing so? |

Think of it as concentrated live rock. It does the same thing, but because it has "ideally sized" macropores, it's much more effective per pound. So, like live rock, it will take anywhere from a few weeks to a couple months to really be effective.

If you already have live rock, you may not notice any difference.

This is a really good product, it's like one bottle gives you the surface area of 25# of LR. I'm not sure about it's ability to reduce nitrates, but overall definitely a good product.

How often (and how) should one conduct maintenance on the Seachem Matrix? Should I rinse with tank water or fresh water?
