Return pump size

Hello all I'm in the process of buillding a 30 gallon sump/refugium for my 55 gallon tank. I was wondering what size and what brand return pump to use that wont break the bank. Its got to be submersable, and I'll most likely be using flexible hose. Thanks again everyone....

Oh and I'm using an overflow box so I'llo be puting a gate valve in there too....

Gonna depend on how hard the pump needs to work to get water back to the display. How high of the ground is the top of the DT?

I highly recommend the Triton series from Deep Blue Professional. Highly reliable, quiet, and energy efficient. I believe the Triton 4 would work well with that system size. You can buy off of Amazon.

Cheap, work well, dependable. Not the quietest but not noisy either. Good flow. Mag drive 950. More then enough for an under cabinet sump. I was using it from the basement to my DT but not enough turn over but was all I had until my mag 1800 showed up. Now I use the 950s for transfer pumps

You may want to consider some of the newer DC pumps as well. I just went through the sizing of the pump battle my self and with the ability to adjust the dc I feel like I left some room to grow. I got a oversize pump and it pushes what I needed on low. Now as I ad more items to the manifold like the reactors etc I can bring up the flow as needed to compensate.

I have a mag 950 for my 65. If you go with the mag get the 950 over the 7. The 7 are more noisy for some reason. Just make sure you plumb the lines with a gate valve so you can slow the flow if you need to.
