torch coral pest id

I got a coral to try and nurse back to health. Its in a dedicated tank after going through dips. During the dip I noticed what looked like movement. After a bit what look like a tentacle un curled from the center and opened like a fan. Over and over. Eventual it stayed in so I moved it into its tank and snapped a close up. Any one know what may be dealing with?

On a side note should the empty heads be removed? I was told sometimes they can get repopulated.

I've seen the barnacles on some of my snail shells act the same way. They open up into a small fan and continue to open/close repeatedly. It could be that. I know they spread too, since there are mini ones on my glass now doing the same thing.

They don't tend to last long---our tanks generally don't feed them well. Pity---I had one and it didn't last. I doubt your coral will in any wise suffer from it.

Yup, googled coral barnacle and there it was plain a day. Thanks, apparently they won't harm the coral so I'll watch out for other issues.

Any one have any recommendations regarding the dead heads, remove or leave alone.
