How would you feel

Two months ago I purchased an aquarium from someone off Criags list. I was looking for a 75G which is what he said he had. Just today for the heck of it I checked the size for the first time. The measurements were 48"x 17.5 x 19". This comes out to roughly 68.5 Gals.!
1.5 Gals off. I am so glad I finally did the math. I hate to think of the ramifications of this! Ask the Verify. Lesson learned.

I would not buy any 48'' T-5 bulbs because they are 46 1/2'' long,so I would not sweat it. Thing of it as a low calorie cake, 10% smaller than the old size.

I was sold a hex advertised as a 55.. was a 44

If he was measuring from the inside of the glass.m it might still be a "75" most manufacturers advertise their tanks using outside measurements

Advertised tank volumes are approximate. I am also guessing this is a "75 gallon tank". The numbers you listed do not fit any standard tank, with the closest being a 75 gallon. They do measure the outside of the tank for tank size.

Yep. I realize this. I am talking about a 6gal difference here. Not the 1.5 gals that I said in fp typo. Thats hardly approximate.
My bad.I thought when someone says that the want a 90 gal tank, they are talking about 90 gals of water.

It's possible the guy just didn't know any better. I see lots of adds on craigslist for '100 gallon' tanks that are really 55.

If it really bugs you, ask for some money back.

Yeah that's pretty annoying, although i've heard that most tanks are rarely exactly what they're listed as. I think a 40 breeder is really like 45 or something.
