New coral beauty wont come out or eat

Hey guys,

I added my first fish to my 55 gal reef tank 3 days ago, a coral beauty angel, and she seems to be acting odd. All my parameters are immaculate and the CUC and zoa are doing great. The beauty on the other hand: first day she was exploring and swimming around great getting acquainted, second day I noticed she wouldn't come out from behind the reef. She has 2 spots she subsequently swims to and just flutters at idle. Same thing when I woke up this morning, will not come out. She hasn't eaten any of the spirulina I've been feeding twice a day, she just swims up to it then takes off. She has been nipping at the LR though. I hear the not eating dosed foods at first is normal but her behavior is throwing me off. Any advice or personal experiences?

I recently added a coral beauty and it did the same thing as yours is doing now. It was fine at first then developed some spots in about a week (Ich i'd guess) then died. It started out fine, swimming and eating then slowly became reclusive. Now, this is by no means the exact thing that is happening to yours, it could just be its personality. In regards to the nipping at rocks, keep in mind that dwarf angels will eat algae. It could just be getting full on algae so it won't eat when you try to feed. Did you happen to quarantine prior to adding to your DT?

I quarantined for about an hour in a butter tub lol, pretty much all I can do right now due to lack of space and the funds (still buying lights, pro test kits, wave makers etc.) I know it was a bit hasty on my part and probably not the smartest but I don't see a QT anytime in the near future. That's a shame to hear, I hope that is not the case as this was my second favorite angel... No spots yet though

Wait, you are still setting up? Did you cycle your tank?

No my tank is established with outstanding water quality and parameters, I have all the necessities (protein skimmer, power filter, ATO, etc) I'm just still adding all the bells and whistles for coral as well as supreme lighting which you know is pretty pricy. I heard they can't resist mysis, think I'm going to head up to the petco here directly and see what they have.

if you have vitamins i would soak the shrimp or spirulina and if the fish does nibble that could probably help it out

Do you know if the fish was eating at the store and what they were feeding it?
