What can I do about this

In March I ordered a Reef Octopus nwb 150 From Drs. Foster& Smith who then had Coral Vue send it to me.
Reef Octopus also makes the NWB110
The manual for these skimmers say that for the
NWB 150 is powered by the OPT 2000
NWB 110 is powered by the Aquatrance 1000

In my box with the skimmer was an Aquatrance 2000S
This pump won't fit the NWB 150.
I called the Drs. F&S promptly and was told I needed to call Coral Vue and
take it up with them which I did. I got no help there after several conversations. I was told different pumps have different applications. Well the pump they included does not work in this application. I have a Reef Octopus 150 body and a Aquatrance pump I can't use either.
I got sick and havent been able to get back to the tank until now so I need my skimmer What can I do?

Coralvue has awesome customer service and a sponsor thread on rc. You should post this there they will help you out. They won't leave you with a product that doesn't work fwiw.

Why won't the pump fit? Just the discharge from the pump or the whole body? Aren't those pumps almost identical? Are you going on just the directions saying what pumps for the skimmer or does it physically not fit?

Post your issue and experience with the call in this forum if you don't want to call again. http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/fo...play.php?f=656

They will take care of you. I would just call back though it would be faster. ask to talk to a manager about it if your uncomfortable with the sales rep. Your only option other than replacing it is getting them to make it right. No way would I pay to replace something on a new product.

(edit) that pump is listed as a direct replacement for your skimmer.. Have you tried it? It's for your skimmer in the description under the 2000.

The body sits cockeyed when the union is screwed onto the skimmer body because there are no feet to rest the suspended pump. Vibration will shortly crack the connection tube. The size of the pump is flared so you cant rest the pump that way either. The plane and simple truth is this pump was not specked to serve the NWB 150 skimmer which is what I paid for. See my first post.

Me personally would call back + start a thread in the coralvue forum with pictures proving what's going on. Imo you have to call them back and make them make it right.. Publicly posting it here holds a lot of weight also if it's a true issue.

Reading your initial post I'm not really sure what your asking now =) .. Do you want suggestions on a way to modify it or what process others would go thru to get it resolved with the manufacturer?

I ran a nwb 110 with the aqua trance pump and it performed great. The pump didn't touch the ground like youre describing, but nothing ever cracked or even looked stressed.

Once the skimmer body is full of water it will stand upright.

Thanks for telling me this. I'm glad it worked or you. I m thinking about the stress that is happening and not what I can see. Perhaps I am worrying over nothing. Guess I will find out because I am stuck with it.

The Aquatrance is the correct pump for the skimmer. The literature that came with the skimmer is most likely outdated. Look at the pump listed at retailers that sell the NWB-150...
