CFL lights in refugium

I have 40 gallon refugium for my 200 gall tank. Currently have one 6000k CFL running for 14 hours or so but I've noticed my macro algae isn't growing very fast if at all. Do I need more than one light? I took the advice of others to use CFLs but didn't ask how many.

I would think you would need to have at least two to cover the area of a 40 breeder. But light is not the only thing macro needs, what are your phosphate levels? If you have low nutrients in the water already, the macro will grow slowly.

That's a good point. My phosphate is zero, I have a media reactor with phosphate stuff in it. Perhaps that's the problem?

I wouldn't run both...take the media reactor out of the system and see what happens
