Metal Halide Question

Would a 250W metal halide be enough for a 75 gallon tank? I have clams, sps and LPS.

for the stuff under the bulb yes, you need 2 to cover the tank though

generally depending on the reflector, MH for every 2 feet

a pair of 250's would be more than enough. 175w would even work given good reflectors./

When I had my 75 I only had 2 x 150w with sps on the top half . Though I had a Monti towards the bottom because that's where it liked to be. Just my experience. 2 x 250w would be perfect. Currently I have a 250w on an m80 ballast above a 34g

i think 250's will be too much. i have 4 250's over my 450g and get great color and growth on sps, lps, etc; and that goes 30" deep. for a 75g, get 2 150's. and as noted above get a good reflector.

250 wont be too much lol. have one over my carpet, hell we have a 400w radium over a 16 inch tank at the store and sps grow like weeds

I'd go to say you can be successful with either IMO. Although with a 150 i think you should choose your reflector and bulb appropriately.
