Ocellaris Clownfish jumped out tank

Hi all, i had a pair and the one fish jumped out and died! Will the other fish be fine by itself or do i have to buy another fish to be with it?

They will be fine alone, but if you do decide to get another make sure to get one smaller.

It will do fine alone, I recommend a lid for ur tank though. Had one die on me the same way, something spooked it and out he went. I made a hood after to prevent future deaths.

If your going to cover your tank make sure it's able to let the tank "breath" to exchange gasses. I've seen silicone bar glass netting used. Like what bars use to place their glasses/mugs after they are washed. You'll just have to make a frame to attach the silicone netting to.

and why would you get smaller? Existing fish tend to bully the new guy so why would you give him a size disadvantage?

Adding a smaller juvie to existing larger clown usually helps to bond the pair, since larger one will turn female after some time alone; & smaller juvie hasn't turned male yet.

What sizes and how long have they been together. The only two I know of that might pair that aren't the same species is an ocellaris and percula. Try it long term with other species you will have a dead clown unless you have a very very large system.

not a large system I hope they don't turn on each other. They sleep on top of each other pretty much they seem pretty civil. I don't actually know if one is a percula or ocellaris I just assume since they are different colors they are different I could be wrong.

Colors could mean different species or they may not. Black clowns are also ocellaris just like the orange ones and picassos are perculas. There are also some half breeds between the two. They may or may not get along in the long term. I would say 50/50 chance if they are those two species. If one is a tomato or maroon clown though, the other will perish when they get bigger.
