I have a 55g FOWLR that i plan to put a rose bubble tip in with my 2 black and white oce. Do you guys think this light has enough lumens to support the tank.

Sorry to hijack the thread but I imagine you're using basic salt mix for fish only systems.

They probably lack essential elements necessary for reef dwelling inhabitants like corals and softies. I have been researching anemones for a while and hear they're picky about stable calcium and alkalinity.

So...I've also encountered many people with FOWLR tanks who put anemones in their tanks. I'm just wondering how they can do it. Or are Rose bubble tips really that easy to take care of.

To answer your question, Rose bubble tip anemones appear to be the easiest of the anemones to take care of. As far as lighting, it really depends. Some rose bubble tip anemones want high light and some want low. Some thrive in the middle while some will move to the highest point in the tank and lose color in the process of seeking more light.

You could also supplment your existing light with a kessil 150W and spotlight the anemone.

That light will be semi useless from deeper then 10 inches in the water mate. Not enough grunt for the rose quadrocolor anem. It will loose its symbiotic algae over time. I see them usually at depths of 50 to 100 feet on average which means the red part of the colour spectrum, they mostly do with out, so apply that if you change lighting.

I buy my water from the LFS, they use instant ocean reef crystals to mix with there RODI as for the lighting i came across an amazing deal that i am trying to get right now. Here is a link to the light if i get it the guy only wants 100 for it.

Also for the calc and alk i can dose the tank after it has finished cycling and I also have some nice LR that came out of a tank that was established over 6 years ago.

If you plan on keeping an anemone you need some time to make sure that your parameters stay stable over time before adding it. Use that time to save your money to buy a light that will let an anemone thrive in your tank.
