Coral Confusion
This coral was sold to me as Pachyseris. It was pretty bleached when I bought it but over the course of two months it has grown and colored up. I have no doubt that it actually IS Pachyseris however it has recently (this week) begun to put out sweeper tentacles at night. All the research I've done says Pachyseris have no tentacles...I've looked at countless websites and can't find any reference to them but here they are. I'm convinced that they come from the coral and not some hitchhiker underneath. What do you all think? Any experience?

It looks like mucus. Last line in this description says they feed like that.

Thanks, while that may be the answer, they are individual threads that look just like thin sweeper tentacles from my worm brain coral. It's just hard to capture in a photo. I don't have a better answer so let's go with LA's answer.
