Run Skimmer During Cycle?

Is it ok to run a skimmer during a tanks cycle? Skimmer needs to be broken in and wanted to know if I should wait until cycle is over.

My tank just got a trace of ammonia today (.25), should I wait for the ammonia to get higher and my cycle to end? Or am I ok with running it now? Any info would be helpful, thanks.

Someone with more experience can correct me if I'm wrong. But I was under the impression that running it during cycling won't do anything for you. There is nothing in your tank yet to produce the waste your skimmer will extract. Don't think it will hurt any, but don't think it will do anything for you either.
