Zoas acting the fool??
Other zoas and corals in my tank are doing great.
Basically this coral just started acting weird the other day. It is a 3 polyp sunny D. For some reason it is closed up and one polyp is sticking halfway out. The other looks to have a ring pinched into it. Any ideas on what can be happening? |

Would a freshwater dip possibly help this?

Is it newly fragged? If yes, then stressed from fragging, be careful may decide to melt
Is it getting too much flow? If yes, then reduce flow Is it excessively slimy/have white spots/weird discoloration/weird texture? If yes then might have zoapox or some other disease, start a regiment of coral dips How long have you had it? if new arrival, could be stressed from shipment, and not adjusted to your lights Do you see any nudibranch? if yes, remove from tank and start a dipping regiment. remove eggs manually Im not sure what exactly causes it, but zoas i have had will look bad for one or two days even though every other coral and zoanthid in the tank is fine. Then it will start to look normal again. If something doesn't look good for more than a week or so, then it might have problems. If this is only one day, id say leave it alone. (unless any of the above questions are the issue)

Awesome.
1. Newly fragged? I have had it for a 2 weeks and was established before that so probably not. 2. Too much flow? I t was been happy were it was at for about 2 weeks should I try to move it somewhere else? 3. New arrival? Nope 4. Pest? Nothing on it i could notice it looks like a normal zoa just has been closed up for about 1-2 days. |
