my YWG looks very weak

Hello. This morning I was doing a tank transfer. My 4th transfer. I have a 20gal QT with two 1" snow flake clowns and one 1.5" YWG.

all 3 fish were fine for the previous 2 weeks. They would swim and hide when I try to fish them out with a bowl for the transfer.

This morning, the clowns were fine. The goby seemed dead. It wasn't moving. When the water current hit the fish, it just floated and spinned around / upside down. Like a dead fish floating. But it would float to the bottom and swim a bit, then sit there. I did the transfer and it just sat at the same spot. There was a hugeeee pile of poo on the fish earlier. looked almost as big as the fish.

salinity matched at 1.027 during transfer and temp at 79. The salinity went up from 1.025 to 1.027 in 3 days... could that be the issue?

ammonia <0.25

fish is still sitting there. Should I do anything? I'll add top off water frequently to control salinity increase.

You desperately need an ATO. Your salinity rises as water evaporates. An ATO stops that happening and protects your fish. ANY ammonia can be lethal also. If you have filters, they can build up nitrate which can lead to ammonia. So can dead snails, etc.

Salinity 1.024-6; alkalinity 8.3-9.3 on KH scale; calcium 420; magnesium 1300, temp 78-80, nitrate .2. Ammonia 0. No filters: lps tank. Alk and cal won't rise if mg is low.

Current Tank Info: 105g AquaVim wedge, yellow tang, sailfin blenny, royal gramma, ocellaris clown pair, yellow watchman, 100 microceriths, 25 tiny hermits, a 4" conch, 1" nassarius, recovering from 2 year hiatus with daily water change of 10%.

This is for my tank transfer period. I didnt set up ato. And its on last day before transfer.

No ammonia now. New tank. Ill get a cheap ato for the 2 week observation

Do u think those were the reasons for this drastic change in health?

I'm suspicious. Did you lose him? Sorry you've had this trouble. An ammonia badge can help, and water changes.

he's still here. same status as before. Weak. If i stir around him, he would float around like a dead fish. But instantly swim down and lay on the surface. not moving much.

I set up a float switch ATO with a bucket. Salinity should be stable now. Just waiting i guess.

i had to chime in on this since i just finished my first successful TTM. I didn't run any ATO on my TT tanks, to be honest, never even thought about it. i always just made sure i matched salinity for each transfer which i did. SG fluctuated maybe a point from one TT to the next at most for me. curious to know what others have experienced.

I have never had to worry much about evaporation with the TT. But, it all depends on the environmental conditions. For some I could see this as an issue.
