Beginner Corals?
My tank is 4 weeks old and I am planning to add live stock. Apart from 2 clownfish...I am thinking of adding these beginner corals...whats your opinion? Can I add them all at the same time...or go one by one.
- Thick Finger Leather Coral - Medium - Cauliflower Colt Coral - Medium (Fiji) - Toadstool Mushroom Leather Coral, Brown - Yellow Fiji Leather Coral - Medium and one Bulb Anemone (Fiji) - Small. Is this too much for a new tank? |

Sounds good to me, but I wouldn't add them all at the same time. I don't know what your parameters are/ligting, but adding one coral, waiting a month, and then adding another would be safer. See how the first one responds to your tank/husbardy first. This is a marathon, not a sprint. Don't go overboard... (patience) GL.

It may be perfectly OK, but without a description of your tank including total size (including sump), filtration (amount of Live Rock, HOB filter, etc), lighting, and actual water parameters, it is impossible to even hazard a good guess.
I do agree completely with cloak, however, in that introducing one at a time is the very best option, and that this is not a race! I've been at this for over 25 years now and still have things learn and improve on.

My first coral frags were xenias and a couple of mushrooms. They went in after roughly three months of cycling. They all opened up right away and are thriving. Go slow on adding new stuff, for example, add the two clown fish then wait for you tank to acclimate to the new additions. Usually a week or so will do it. Then add a frag, MAYBE TWO, if your parameters are still holding steady and everything looks like it's happy. My xenias were my tank barometer, as long as they were open and doing their little dance I knew things were doing okay. Slowly and with patience is the key to building a successful tank! Good luck and keep us posted!

An anemone should go only into a well established tank, after at least 6 months, preferrably a year.
