ATS help

so wondering if i could submerge an ats in my tank and have the water flow through it somewhat like a filter pad the light for it would be outside the tank is this possible? do i needto add air bubbles? thanks

I would say yes to the bubbler necessity based on what I have read not personal experience. My upflow ATS was inside the sump with a bubbler. I noticed less algae growth on the screen in areas where the bubble flow pattern was not as full as other areas on the screen. IMHE
