Skimmer cleaning

How often do you do it?

Got an Aquamaxx EM 300 on my 215 and noticed the area below the bottom of the cup is gunky. Seems it's affecting my bubble production. The skimmer has been running for about 3 months.

I clean the cup once a week or so.

Coming from a Tunze 9010 that I rarely cleaned so not sure what to expect.

I buy a sponge cleaner that does not have any abrasiveness, kinda like a ice cream cone I remove the cup and clean the neck of the skimmer.
