Flow for a 96"x36"x24" SPS Reef Tank
I'm getting real close to starting up my new 96"x36"x24" SPS reef tank and I want to make sure that I'm going with the right equipment.
What equipment do you recommend for sufficient flow for my SPS tank? |

I can tell you from building several tanks in this size range that placing the pumps all on the two sides is not the best plan. The first problem is that the mp60s are very powerful and to get flow in the middle of the tank they will need to be jacked up so high you can't put anything in front of them for 2-3 feet. I have also had some issues with them loosing alignment and falling off or doing the red green light emergency mode. Typicaly this is found out within a week of owning the pump, most are good every now and then you find one that acts funny. They also make a lot of noise, wave/pulse mode is especially annoying.
For these reasons I would go with 4 pumps on the back.
