Aquamaxx HOB-XC Skimmer

Just was wondering. This skimmer has a separate heater compartment which i do not use since it is too small for my heater. Theoretically, could i use this feature to raise pods for my mandarin? Crazy as it seems, could it work since i do not use a sump.
