I am not home right now but I think the normal amount of tank water to be tested is 16ml of tank water. For high range NO3, you must dilute the vial with RODI water. 1ml of tank water + 15ml of RODI. Compare the colors using the wheel. Values for regular test are in the left column. Values for high range are on the right. High range has a range between 4ppm of NO3 to 160ppm.

I normally use a Hanna Checker for Phosphate. I THINK the principal is the same except you use a total of 17ml of tank water. In this case, you use 2ml of tank water + 15ml of RODI. The High Range values, like above, are found on the plastic instruction card but I cannot remember the values.

Both tests give you a choice of NO3 or PO4 or Total Nitrogen or total Phosphate.

Hope the above helps & sorry no one replied before.

the RS instructions are not that easy for a beginner, or even a novice. I had to ask this groupd a lot of questions to get it right.

The Hanna Check is less accurate and just as many steps. Also twice the money.
