Ph and kh
Hi all,I'm about three weeks into cycle.i had some issues, and still do with a refractometer and a deep six plastic hydro.consequently I have topped up tank with just rodi water.anyway ten days ago my ph off my chart,(high) and kh was around 11drops.now the ph is only 8.0 and kh is also 8. Judging by my Lfs my salinity is 1.025 and temp is 26 oc.so why has ph and kh fallen?ive got brown diatoms on the homemade rock and a green algae ( that lfs.owner looked at and said that a fox face would love eating it). Oh, the rock is made from crushed aragonite and white cement (which was soaked and regularly drained over 3 months), in the sump is about 5 pounds of live rock straight out of another established tank.im using an ever grow it 2060 sunset/sunrise programme, and a small led spot in the sump.3 power heads in dt . filter sock in sump.tank is about 60 gallons and sump is about 10 gallons. Have I missed anything?????lol.appreciate some advice ty

When exactly did you check DKH? If the saltwater was newly mixed that could be why it read high and it will drop due to being used up by the tank (even the rock). My tank has been up and running 3.5 yrs now from the 125g I had before, and I haven't checked my PH once. PH is something I don't monitor and many others do not either

Hi all checks mentioned were taken 2hrs ago, yesterday I put in a very small Xenia (it's growing like a weed in its original tank) it came on its own little bit of rock and is now sitting high on the top of mine.it hasn't closed up or anything, so it's ok at moment.

I would second not worrying about pH too much. Now if it does go too low during a cycle you can stall it. Also unless you are keeping corals I wouldn't worry too much about your dkh
