What's a Good Price for a frag of Watermelon Chalice?

I was speaking with a local reefer on a local forum site saying he had a bunch of coral frags. I asked him for a list and he mentioned a watermelon chalice. I've never owned a chalice but he's asking $10 for the frag. Is that a good price?

Thanks.

Agreed. The guy selling it is just a little bit of a drive from my house. Lol. But I just did some reading and many people say that Watermelon Chalice's go for a lot of money and are rare. I'm not sure how accurate that is, but I found it interesting.

Coral prices vary widely from region to region. It's all about how much people are willing to pay for it. IMO people like to put designer names on stuff so that they can get way more money out of it. I'm not paying $800 for a dime sized frag of some chalice that some famous reefer discovered because its not going to hold its value. I'll take the $10 frag thats just as pretty but doesn't have a fancy name.

Totally agree. Having a good looking tank with amazing looking coral doesn't have to be expensive

I picked up the watermelon chalice. It's a lot harder and than I thiug it would be. It honestly makes me think of a monitpora. The seller didn't put it on a plug so I acclimated it and just laid it on the sand in my tank.

Keep an eye on it, void letting sand build up on flesh of chalice.

I paid $25, and I think that's what it is..... It was about 3cm across in December. Now it is double that and looks great.
