Aiptasia
I have maybe 100 in my 150. They all of a sudden bloomed probably when I tried iradicating the few that I had with aiptasiax. Probably released planula. Anyway, I bought a Skat a few weeks ago and it's not touching the aiptasia. It's getting fat off my well fed tank. A few days ago I introduced berghia nudibranch and I haven't seen them since. They were expensive. I followed all instructions and turned off flow. What's my question??? I don't even know. I just want to vent! I hate aiptasia!!!

If those Berghia nudibranchs are still alive, just be patient and give them some time.

Battled them for years and the only thing that worked for me was injecting them with Sodium hydroxide NaOH (lye). If done properly it is safe and for me has a 100% kill rate.

The berghia is working hard. One aiptasia at a time. I'm told they will lay eggs and will take months to eradicate aiptasia. Then, they will starve. Hope to siphon them out and share before they day. I look forward to that problem

Do you have Zoa corals or smaller softies? If not then go for it. The filefish will cleanup the tank in a few weeks then may go for your softer corals. This is from my recent experience. |

Check your tank in the morning when the lights are off maybe a few hours before the lights come on. I have 2 in my tank and see them once a week climbing on the glass. One day I saw both which confirmed they both made it.

X works for me. Every now and again they pop up on my rocks, but I have noticed some needing multiple x treatments. Just gotta stay on top of them

How many berghia? To make a dent in your Aiptasia garden you need quite a few. A dozen at least I think. I got 6 for about 20-25 and after about a month they were nearly all gone. Then I doubled down with two peppermint shrimp and the tank is aiptasia free. It requires patience like everything else but it's the natural way to do it.

"The peppermint worked for me but they won't eat them if they are big". . ..
Well, the Peppermint shrimp first start eating juveniles, then adults, then the grown ones.. . . and I don't blame them for such sequencing :-). Eventually all will be gone. . . Patience, grasshopper. . . |

If I time it just right, I can get a picture of my peppermint shrimp photo bombing a medium and a small aiptasia. This shrimp has been with me for a long time now too.

Success!!! I started noticing disappearing aiptasia a few weeks after I put them in. I used 24 in 150 gallon tank. Now, I am nearly aiptasia free. They even ate the super large aiptasia. Now I only see a few left. I will have to fish out the Skat who is nearly as big as my hippo tang.
