An appropriate size tank for the fish you are QTing. Hang on back filter such as fluval, a heater, PVC pieces for hiding places and a thermometer. Ammonia alert badges can be helpful and I like using a small powerhead. May consider a cover as well as I have lost more than 1 fish due to jumping while in QT.

I overstocked my tank and will be taking a tang back so there is a possibility I could have to put 4 clowns and 2 tangs all into quarantine what size tank would you recommend ?

No need to apologize, there's a LOT of information on here, it can be hard to find sometimes. I'm new to salt tanks as well, so I usually assume most of my questions have been asked somewhere on here.

When you QT many fish at once, the biological filtration medium for QT should be very well cycled about 4-5 weeks before getting any fish. The medium for QT must be deliberately and separately cycled and never just by leaving the medium in DT even for a long time. The illogic of merely leaving medium in DT for a long time for use in QT will be exposed and might lead to calamity. I also always use UV properly set up to reduce the chance and severity of bacteria infection. |

Thanks wooden ill do some good research, limited for time if things get worse can understand why people fail when they are under pressure to buy and set everything up quickly for QT and just for fish tradewinds I'll get a separate qt for corals etc, also just thinking so once the quarantine tank is set up after quarantine is done if successful should the quarantine tank have a full water Change, and also can you just leave the salt water cold and heat it up if you run into problems a few hours before hand does heat play apart of massive part of water stability thanks
