Adding Dry Rock to New Tank with Established LR
Hi all,
I am thinking about the rock scape in my new 28 gal tank (Thats on its way) And I am thinking I really need to make it sturdy as possible, as in my 9 gal, it'd topple over with the turbo snails. I am thinking the best way to do this is use dry rock so I can glue/putty together and make sure its nice and tight. This way I have time to decide the scape I want to use. It'd be less messy than try to do the putty in water. My question is.. I was planning on using the existing rocks from my 9 gal to cycle the tank faster.. if I use mainly new dry rock, and add in a few established LR, would that mess up the tank cycle? bad idea? If I take the LR out of the 9 gal, the beneficial bacteria will die off by the time I glue/putty and put it in the new tank, right? I am also planning on clean new sand, with a small bit from old tank to get the cycle going. |
