Air Bubbles in tank

What causes air bubbles in the tank? I just replaced the carbon in the bottom of my canister filter and did around a 25% water change. I didn't have the bubbles before I took the canister filter apart.

Also, do air bubbles harm coral or fish?

When you opened the canister, you let some air in the system.

I run a canister on my freshwater tank. Usually for a couple hours after opening it I have some bubble shooting out of the return. Eventually the air finds it's way out.

Sometimes you can help it by tilting the canister so the outlet it straight up. Doing this has helped me before.

The bubbles won't harm anything, just an annoyance.
