Problems with ro/di

I have a aqua fx great white ro/di unit that has 2 NH2Cl stages and 2 di stages. I live in AZ and our tap TDS is over 700. I just changed my carbon and Di filters about a month ago. I tested the tds of my ro/di water and it's at 199. Does that mean I need to change my Ro membrane or could the be some other problem?

How long did you use the membrane?

Have you ever gotten close to 300 gph out of it?

With such high TDS it might well be toast. You would really need to measure your RO output (before the DI resin) in order to know. I suspect you might measure too high, that's why your resin gets depleted so quickly.

So your RODI unit has 3 membranes. I think either one or more of them are damaged or water is leaking past them (like they need reseated). Check your TDS before and after the membranes. If you have 700 going in you should have somewhere in the neighborhood of 35 coming out (assuming a 95% rejection ratio). Have you ever changed the carbon blocks in a year? When those get exhausted the membranes can get damaged from chlorine or chloramine (whichever your local water department uses to sterilize your water).

Get a Spectrapure 99% rejection membrane, it brings my after membrane readings to 8ppm from 700ppm

Spectrapure makes their products for the hard and high TDS water we have in AZ

+1 for the Spectrapure. My out form RO TDS is 0-1. Comparitively though my well water after softener is 370.

DI resin does not have a life based on gallons processed. The life is based on the TDS processed. With an out TDS from the RO of 0-1 my DI will last a looooooooong time.

+1

DI life also depends on the quality of the DI and if any CO2 is present in the water
