Jebao DC vs. DCT worst experience
Ok, first I would like to tell you guys that it is not shipping mistake. They purposefully send out DCT instead of DC. May be because DCT may be their old stock or may be it is not selling as much as the DC one?
here is the difference between DC and DCT: DC can be controlled with Neptune Apex after buying "Apex to Jebao" controller which they sell at fishstreet.com Dc has 6 speed modes but DCT has 10 speed modes, DC 12000 doesnot have a strainer/filter at the suction end but the DCT 12000 has one. But you can't control the DCT with Apex. I'm very angry, because I ordered 3 DC12000 but they sent me DCT 12000, When I asked for the exchange a guy named Eric is giving me problems. Very bad company, because you buy one thing and they purposefully send out something. beware, don't get DCT and suffer like me. If you order DC they will try to send DCT to get rid of the old/defective stock. |

I thought the DCT are the newer models. I'm looking into getting one.

I am surprised at how many people need to learn the hard way.

I have the DC pumps a 12000, 9000, and two 3000. All have been running for at least a year with no problems. The new orders for the DC12000 have the intake screen. I ordered extra replacement pumps for in case there is a future problem and all sizes came with them. The first round did not. I have had a good experience with them and the price was very good. I know others have not been so lucky.

I just purchased the DCT-12000 on Amazon for $147. Haven't had a chance to use it yet but I thought that the "T" version was the new model.
Also, it's labeled that it is mfg by Jecod, and only a sticker on it identifies it as being made by Jecod/Jebao. Anyone know if this is the same company? |

FWIW, I have been running the DCT-12000 since may 28th. Pump seems to be a good pump, however the power supply failed 2 days ago. I sent an email to Jebao asking to start the warranty replacement process.

The DCT has all the electronics in the controller. It was the newer version until the new DCS that has a more efficient impeller.

The DCT is the newer series. The DCT pumps have an upgraded controller with more control levels. They also claim that the newer series is more energy efficient.
Here are the differences : DC series: DCT series: |

Hmmm - not much to compare in that chart. the only DCT listed is the DCT-4000, which doesn't have a DC counterpart. All of the models that are the same have the same specs.
Reportedly many of the reliability problems in the older jebao pumps were controller related, so hopefully the new controller will also be more reliable, but time will tell. I was looking at a DC pump (jabao, waveline, etc) recently, but I really don't want to deal with warranty replacements, so I went with a Fluval instead.

Is it correct that the DC pump has the drive circuitry in the pump while the DCT has it in the controller?
I'm trying to vary the DCT output by varying the signal voltage level (like DC), but it looks like these pumps need a PWM signal to control speed? Anyone aware of this?

It's possible to replicate a PWM signal if we know the requirements... voltage level, frequency, duty cycle that represents a specific voltage, etc...

I found this at Neptune's forum, hope this is ok to post. They start talking about the dct model and the issue they are finding. Seems there has been a device added to stop 3rd part control. Not looking good...
