Bubble king sm250 adjustement

Hi guys hope you're doing well.

I was wondering if anyone can give me a hint how to adjust my bubble king with RD3 pump

The water level is 8 in

So what the best setting with the pump controller
What would be the best water level in the cone

The skimmer run for more than two months now and skimming too wet almost Clearwater but never a big quantities.

Thanks for all your advice

Cheer

Where is the wattage set at right now? I'd suggest around 40w and run the water level inside the skimmer body about 1" below where the cup screws onto the body itself. That should be a good starting point for you and you can adjust from there. Also, I wouldn't make more than 1/16th turn adjustments on wedge pipe, and leave it be for an hour or so after you make that adjustment to give it time to settle in before making another adjustment.

+1.. I run an SM250 with the RD3 too. I'm at 9" sump depth. Wedge pipe is about 95% open. My RD3 is set to about 78 which is 43 watts. I skim kind of wet though but the skimmer continually produces some very nasty skimmate. That said, 8" may be a little on the low side as far as sump depth and will likely require different settings than mine and also will likely require the wedge pipe to be closed more. Also, depending on your tank size and bio load, you settings will vary. That brings up a question.. How big is your tank and how many fish to do you have in it?

I think it should be in 8 1/2 inch of water minimum for it to work properly. Its a little skittish to set but when it works..........
