Banggazi Cardinal fish Behaviour
Hello
I'm really new to Marine fish keeping so not got much livestock. I purchased a Banggazi Cardinal and it's constantly in the bottom left hand corner of the tank and doesn't go anywhere else? Is this normal behaviour? Thanks Lou |

Not really normal behaviour but bangais (not banggazi) cardinals when not housed with other cardinals are kind of shy and reclusive. They do best when there are other cardinal fish in the tank as they tend to be schooling fish. I keep several of them at a time when when kept in a school, they will breed regularly if the tank is healthy. If you have large or aggressive fish in the tank, that they will be more reclusive. Having said that, most bangai cardinals these days don't survive if they are not tank raised. I am not sure if it's the collection methods or where they are being collected from but years back, most store bought bangais were fairly hardy. These days that is not the case and I've found much less long term success with them. Our of 6, you are lucky if 2 or 3 survive. Tank raised are always a better choice and have a much higher survival rate.

Bangaii's are nocturnal fish. I have one in my 120 with all peaceful fish. when lights are on it will spend a lot of time in one spot. there are not known to swim all over the tank. when all lights go out and the other fish sleep, my Bangaii will swim from one end to the other. wilds have a poor survival rate.
