The whitish brown spotted lump in the middle? Probably a sponge.

Ok that's what I was thinking. Is this a benign sponge or a type of pest? I have also found white, thin, finger-like sponge growing as well.

I think most are benign. They grow off of available nutrients. If you are worried about it take the rock out of the tank for a couple of minutes. You won't have much die off but sponges generally don't do well if exposed to air.

Glad to hear that it is probably benign. I will just leave it alone since the rock has a lot of coral on it and is quite large so taking it out of the water isn't really feasible. Thanks for the help guys
