Clam off live rock from big al's?

Hey guys started a tank few days ago found a couple clams in there (what look like clams) that are definitely active. Ones big ones small. I thought they would have died the first day I seen them when I started the tank but the big guys still out moving a little every night and constantly opening up and closing.
I'm a newb to SW so just wondering if this is a good thing or bad thing.

Thanks mrramsey. Yah the rock was a little dirtier then it should have been I was told but it's in there now! It definitely doesn't look like s snail though, it hinges at the back and closes right up. Here's a pic of it closed.

when you say "opening and closing", do you mean there are two halves that are doing this? it does look like a clam. if it is, i doubt it will survive your cycle. if you have a small qt, you could move it there and put it back in your dt after it has completed the cycle.

Yah exactly opening and closing two halves. I figured that, I'm setting one up tonight so I should get him out of there!

Thanks
