In Tank Fuge

Is anyone using an in-tank refugium? I would like to have some macro algae but prior attempts have failed as I have two tangs and a couple of butterflyfish that eat the algaes. I thought of trying one of the in-tank refugiums to grow some macro algae and also get the benefit of nutrient export. I could point my tank water returns at the box for water flow.

Does anyone do this and does the refugium just become an eyesore in your DT?

I have one, but it is not in my DT. It is set up in my sump. For me it would be an eye sore and take up space if it were in my DT
