ASM skimmer sedra 9000 problem
Once the water level goes beyond this point, the pump stop producing bubbles and water enters the venturi air tube. The skimmer body itself is a few years old but the pump is brand new. One thing I notice from this pump and the same one seven years ago. (give or take) Is that the venture nipple is larger. I don't know if that could be the problem.

put a valve on the air line and cut down on the air and see if that helps

Which skimmer body is it? Are you running the recirculation mod? For reasons that I could never really figure out, when I modded my ASM G4 (with a Sedra 9000) to be a recirculater, the venturi stopped sucking air. When I closed off the recirculating mod, it sucked air again. Go figure! If yours does not have the recirculating mod, perhaps its a water level in the sump issue.

ASM skimmer G4 with the sedra 9000 recirculating it. Using a Maxijet 1200 as the feed pump. Do you think cutting the air tube shorter would help? I put the water level at 6,8 and 10 inches of water, did the same thing at all those levels.

Try taking the venturi off and cleaning out the air port. Over time they tend to calcify and it restricts the air. If it isn't able to pull enough air it will pull more water and do what you are experiencing. The problem isn't too much air, it is not enough air so look for the restriction. I keep a drill bit the same size as the air opening on the venturi and a couple times a year I clean out that area. Vinegar alone may not clean it out, you may have to physically remove the buildup.

The thing is this is a brand new pump. First time being in the water...
When ca1ore said that after blocking the inlet it would make bubbles that's the first thing I thought of. |

Well I got it running now. What I did was took a cap from a juice bottle, cut cap to fit inside the venture, drilled half inch hole in the center of cap, silicone it in. Boom Thanks for the help guys.
