Coral help

Hi Guys,

Some things are going good and some not so good so looking for some advice.

I have some pink Monti and purple Monti and some green Zoa's and purple Zoas that are not looking a good as the normally do. Quite a few Zoas are closed up and the monties are not looking great. I tested my water this morning:

Alk - 8.1
CA - 450
Mg - 1340
Sg - 1.026
NO3 - < 1ppm
NO4 - 0
Temp 79 F

I also have a large colony of mushrooms that are thriving Big and full. Pulsing Xenia but the are a bit thin looking and don't pulse a lot. I have some purple and green clove polyps that look good albeit they have been reduced in numbers by my GBTA's which were 2 but now 4. I have a 3" piece of GSP that I added a few weeks ago and has been looking really good.

I do run GFO/GAC in a BRS dual reactor which has helped with my algae. The tank has good flow at 800gph through the sump and another 2-2400 gph with powerheads.

Any suggestions on what to do or look for?

Sounds like a lighting issue to me.

Aye maybe, but the question is which way? right now I max Ch1 (blues) at 40% and Ch2 (whites) at 15% for 3 hours mid day. I ramp up and down.

Placement plays a huge factor too. The montis like high flow, where everything else you mentioned like medium, non direct flow. Not all xenia pulses either. I run my blues at 40% from 9am-9:30pm, and my whites at 25% from 9:45am-8:45pm. Everyone's tank will be different though, it's trial and error. Play with the positioning of each a bit though. That's my opinion.

In my case I think I have the flow right because they were doing pretty well. I did make changes to my whites a while back thinking that it may have contributed to my algae issue.
