Tang?
I have a mimic lemon peel tang she keeps going to the surface of the water and blowing air out of her guilds is something I should be concerned about? I have a pair of clowns purple fire fish, fire fish and a pink spotted watch man goby and none of them are doing it.
Thank you for any help....... |

I just read that this is normal behavior for foxface and rabbit fish. Maybe he picked up the habit when he was in the same display tank with one. How long have you had this fish?

My foxface does this all the time. I always assumed he was trying to get residual foating food bits along the edges of the glass water line. None of my other fish have done this though. If he seems to be acting normal otherwise I wouldn't worry as long as your other fish are fine. My foxface will do it for a while, 20-30 minutes. sometimes more sometimes less. then he will stop and do normal fish stuff.

My Fox does feed around the top edges of the tank. Never noticed spitting air/water, but he is noisy. My big Purple Tang does the same thing or at least sounds like it.

my blue hippo does the same but its my fault. there was a time i fed them dry palets so some palets would float up on top and the tang was the only dumb one to go up there and try to get them. now that i feed them brine, she thinks palets are still floating up there -_- lol

Thank you for the replays. Salinity is 1.025, ph 8.19,ammonia nitrate and nitrite 0, phosphate 0, calcium 450, magnesium 1410, kh/alk 8.5.
She doesn't do it all the time and I never seen her do it around feeding time and we only had her for 1 week.... |
