Upgrading-transfering from 46g to 75rr help
Hi guys- just picked up a reef ready 75 gallon with custom king sump/refugium. Currently have a 46 bow setup. Need some advice since i am new to the game. I have 55 lbs of live fiji rock and about an inch of sandbed. A BTA and a LTBA some mushrooms CUC and sandsifter starfish. I want to know how and what is the best way to transfer all this to my new 75g tank. Can i reuse the sand and just add some more dry to it. ? Its about 6 months old. Everything in tank is about 6 months. If not what do i use dry sand or live sand? Which sand is best if i need to replace? Can i put my livestock in this tank as soon as i fill it with water or will the tank cycle because of sand? I have a Aqua C evo 120 protein skimmer. Miracle mud and chaeto in sump which i plan to transfer in new fuge.
Plan on doing this sometime next week. Any help would be greatly appreciated as i do not know where to turn to. Thanks |

When I went from 65 to a 125 I added new sand to the 125. I then rinsed and cleaned my old sand and slowly added it to the tank over a month. I would not transfer the sand without washing it will for sure cause a cycle.

Well i wont be transferring my old sand to the new tank for sure. I just bought 120 lbs of CaribSea Aragonite which should be enough for 2 inch sand bed. I guess i will just seed the new sand with a few cups of my old sand.
Thanks |
