Red algae
Is this cyano or is it the start of coralline algae? Not sure. I've tried looking up good photos to compare and I can't tell. It's not slimy. I used a really soft bottle brush and rubbed over it and was spinning it to clear off sand and other crap. I've got that rock and the entire front face is covered in it. Hoping it's good. Got another rock covered in a red carpet looking algae too. Is that same stuff?

I could definitely be wrong, but from the photo it looks too 'fuzzy' to be coralline to me. I'd say cyano. Another opinion would be great though.

I do have a hair algae problem. Could be some of that poking through. I've has the slime looking stuff before and this isn't the same thing. This stuff doesn't seem to come off even when I rub it with my finger decently hard.

its not cyno, i cant remember the name but its a macro, look up red fuzzy algae on the search and you will find lots of info on it. It can get out of hand and i believe its caused by too much nitrogen or phospates. mexican turbo snails are said to eat it up.
