tile under elite aquatics sump.

Hey everyone, random question. I have a elite aquatics sump that I need to raise about a quarter inch. I have a bunch of left over 1x1 tile sheets around the house. I laid them down in the stand, and they make everything fit perfectly. I also like how, being tiles they allow airflow under the sump. Preventing rotting from any spills or splashes. The only issue is I only have enough tiles to cover everything except about half a inch around on all edges (of course).

Will the sump be okay having about half a in around the edges with no tile under them?

Random I know! Just wanted some advice!

I personally would want the entire thing supported.
