green coroline on acrylic

I'm starting to get round green algae spots on my acrylic tank. The spots are the size of dimes and quarters. I researched and believe they are green coroline (they are tough to get off). What is the best way/material to get the off without scratching the acrylic?

An old credit card or gift card works wonders on acrylic.
