Maxspect Gyre or 4x RW-20's
I have a 220g Tank its being turned into an SPS tank.
I currently have a Maxspect Gyre, 1 WP40 and 1WP40 that only runs in constant mode now. I have gone through 2x WP40s in the last 2 years however I have 1 that has been good for 2 years. I just got an RW-4 and they seem much nicer. I am not getting the amount of floow that I think I need with these power heads and I am wondering if I get 4x RW-20's then I should be able to get pretty good movement going beings they can talk to eachother. However I dont know if I should just stick with the setup I have now and see how it does. |

Not even a close call. Get 2 gyre 150's. You won't believe the water motion and flow.

maybe one gyre on each end?
I personally find the option of 4x rw-20 very tempting. with 4 power heads of that strength it would be really easy to eliminate dead spots, and you wouldn't have to spend more than $380. |

I would go with 2 gyre and play around with them. I like the idea of 1 mounted normally on the side, and then the other mounted under it but near the side/back junction vertically pushing water in the same direction but across the back glass. Make a rotating gyre from one side to the other and back to front. But there are a ton of things you could try with 2 of them.

Just got the gyre 150 little over a week ago. My tank is a new tank, freekin incredible. I have it on an alternating switch with a 3500 gph ebay pump on then other end. The fish are loving it and I just added new corals that I have never kept and they are wide open

Gyre on each end is the way to go. I have mine on a wave maker cycling on and off. Gyre left. Gyre right. And sometimes they collide in the middle.

Gyre is the way to go. They are hard to beat!

So I ended up taking my Gyre and turning it on its side so its positioned up and down and moved it to the front side wall and then moved my 2x Jebaos on the opposite wall towards the back and it pushed a lot of water this way! The gyre puts a lot of motion around the front then they push that water back to the other side of the tank and they gyre pulls it. Nothing settles anymore and I am very happy with the flow for now.
