Help with my Zoas
So i have two different Zoas, a pink and a green. I have noticed that my Green has 4 brown polyps to it lately. It did "walk" off the rock the other day as well which i thought was odd because it is right next to the pink Zoa which is growing like crazy! So i did a water change last night and moved the green zoa to about mid level on the tank. like I said my Pink zoa and kenya tree are growing like crazy and look very healthy. Just my green Zoa is having this problem. Is this normal? i have attached pictures of them as well. Also my parameters are great, nothing alarmed as of a week ago.
Thanks! |

How long has that frag been in your tank? It took my Eagle eye frag a few weeks before it took off. I have since fragged it 2x off of the small piece of rubble it's on. Don't know where I want to put it on the main rock work still.
But, my rastas have been in the tank for a few months now and barely grow. Ime, it depends on how long they have been in the tank and/or on the type of zoa. |

It took my green ones a month or two before they did anything. Then they grew like wildfire.

most likely the different colored polyps are just morphs of the green either that or there was a different color polyp mixed in from the beginning and your just now seeing them. different zoas grow and thrive at different rates for different water parameters/ light.. this is true for palyothas as well. IME all zoas and polys will eventually acclimate themselves to pretty much any parameters, and light as long as these variables are within normal ranges. also keeping these variables consistent is key because corals can not acclimate if there are shifts in the variables. once acclimated to your tank parameters they should start growing at a more rapid rate. IME this could take anywhere from a month to 3
