T5 question
I don't know anything about T5s I have always run LED, I have 2 radions mounted inside my canopy about 8 inches off the water line. I have a lot of room in it. I was thinking about mounting some T5s long ways on both sides of the radions. I hear T5/LED is great for sps. So my question is would 2 bulbs on both sides of the radions be alright? What would I need to do that, I don't see any fixtures you just plug in with 1 or 2 bulbs on them so im assuming this is going to have to be a DIY type deal. Any help would be appreciated.

The LET miro-4 retro kits work well for this purpose. Pretty easy to install with good ballast and reflectors. I added to supplement my LEDS (kessils) with good results.

I just finished doing the exact same thing to my Radion g2's. 4x39w T5 retrofit using the LET Miro-4 reflectors. However to save a little money I used 2 Hagen GLO Ballasts kits. However if the extra ~$60 isn't an issue the full LET kit would allow you to angle the outer reflectors to possibly give better lighting!
Overall i'm very happy with the results the tank looks much brighter and the shadowing on the SPS from the Radion's is gone. Still early days to see if color improves. |
