Heater for sump?

Any reviews out there for compact heaters. My sump is starting to get crowded and due to its design I need it to be submersible and also compact. Less than ten inches and 150 watts

Petco (hissssssss, I know) had one that was less than 10'' but it was set to 78 degrees with no adjustment feature. I forget the brand but it was small. The ones that could be adjusted were 13'' at 150 watts.

I hear the cobalt ones are pretty good and compact.

Thanks for the input. Don't know if I truly trust a petco non controllable heater. I have been looking at cobalt. Price is putting me off. I have a heater in the dt. But I am trying to hide everything in the sump

Well for what it's worth, the Aqueon (not petco brand) non controllable heater keeps my tank at a steady 78. Very minor deviation when the temperature inside the house changes. it was a good solution while I cycled the tank and waited to gain some more funds to get a better one.

Cobalts compact? - Yes! But mine failed within 10 months - BOO!

Check out the Finnex titanium heaters.

They have both a controlled heater - LINK

And just the heating tube, if you already have a reef controller like an APEX - LINK2

I have two 300 watt Finnex Titaniums in my sump, connected to my APEX. Before I bought mine, I contacted them asking how they recommended they be mounted - they said laying horizontally on the bottom completely submerged.

Eheim Jager. Suction cups securely to side. A heater is the most dangerous (to your house) piece of equipment in your tank. It's where electricity can literally meet water. Do NOT go cheap. Go the most expensive and best. And do not buy a used one.

+1 Eheim Jäger are one of the most solid heaters on the market and sold at a reasonable price to boot. Don't cheap out or compromise for the sake of neatness. I've got two 150W's hooked up to an Apex for control and the heater is set 1-2 degrees above what I programmed the apex at as a failsafe.

I have bought 4 300 watt Eheim Jager heaters in the last year and 2 of them have already failed. I loved them (Ebo Jager that is, not the replacement Eheim Jager) 20 years ago when I first started in the reef hobby, but am not happy with them at all now. (I need 3 heaters, one for my water change barrel and 2 for my tank.)

I set the pair in my sump to 80 degrees and use my controller to run them at 77 degrees. The internal switch should just stay on - not a very hard life. One of them was unreliable out of the box, and one lasted 5 months - it now just has the light lit, but doesn't heat at any setting.

From a little research, it appears that I'm not alone having issues with newer Eheim Jager units.
