Egg Crate and Pistol Shrimp

Setting up a new aquarium, and I was thinking about putting egg crate at the bottom; so the rocks won't move around so much.

But I'm definitely getting a pistol shrimp goby combo, will this have bad effects on the pistol shrimp? If someone has experience with pistol shrimp goby combo, I would greatly appreciate their input.

Are you putting sand on top of the egg crate?

I have eggcrate under my rocks. It does not seem to bother my pistol shrimp, he has been a bulldozer for the last couple of years.

Yea, I plan to put egg crate down on for the entire tank; and then put sand on top.

Not a problem. I've got egg crate on the bottom of my tank and the pistol doesn't seem to care. The goby, who is in another part of the tank, doesn't seem to mind either. The pistol will just dig around the egg crate.
