Algae ID

Hello Everyone,

I am having a problem getting an ID for this algae that is on my sunny d zoa. Does anyone have an ideal of what it might be? I have tried removing it by hand only to find it growing back in the next couple days! Thanks!smaller.jpg

either get an algae eating fish (if tank size permits)

or start GFO

it will continue to grow back unless you have tank nutrient/lighting under control.. lighting you can mess around.. nutrient, you fix by feeding less or run GFO in a reactor.

I currently have a nuvo 16 gallon tank. I was wondering what exactly is this algae? Can anybody give me an ID? Not sure if its a type of grass algae. Thanks!

It looks like the Green Turf Algae outlined in this link IMO.

Looks like new growth of Bryopsis, when it gets longer it will start producing feather structures. Remove the frag and get as much of it off as possible, put it in a little cup of tank water, then use aptasia X to fill the areas between the gaps you cant get too, leave it for 15 minutes, you basically want to cover the little nubs of the algae, aptasia X will kill it off. Try to get it out soon before a snail spreads it.

Ok, so just when I was going to try the aptasiaX, my turbo snail ate everything up overnight! It hasn't grown back yet and lets hope it stays that way!
