Marco Rock Comes Through

Just received my 50 Lb order of Marco rock for my 75 gal. Amazing pieces, one shelf that i requested at no extra cost, and about 1 lb of rubble. Each piece individually wrapped in bubble wrap. A bit dusty, but a bucket rinse will fix that. More than enough to fill my 75. Very porous.

That's great! I was thinking about using them, I just worry about phosphate leaching :/

I used 130 lbs of Marco in October. No PO4 leaching however, coralline doesn't like it.

I did a great deal of research prior to the purchase, concerned about the leaching. The majority of users appeared happy with no issues. This rock is clean, nothing that would "die off". I used Fiji live rock 7 years ago when i started my tank, and it was a PITA for months and months. Not as porous as Marco.

I love Marco rock. It's porous, the critters love it, places to hide, looks good, no bad side chemicals, what's not to love?

I've got 100 lbs of new Marco rock sitting in a tub of water waiting to go into my new 105 in the week or so. It's been soaking for a week and no PO4 leaching so far. This Is much nicer looking rock than what is in my current tank.

I had no issues with PO4 when I used it in my Biocube, and by now, it is indistinguishable from my Fiji that I have had for 20 years. Of course I can tell which is which because I have had my hands on the rocks for so long, but someone looking in would never know.

I love the fact that it stacks and aquascapes very well, and that it is easy to break apart and sculpt into better shapes with a hammer, a chisel, and epoxy You can make some pretty spectacular scapes with it, and make it incredibly stable because it is dry... no worries about killing things off. One thing to note is that Coralline will attach to smoother areas faster (like your back wall), so I went as far as to smooth some areas with sandpaper and others with a little epoxy. Once it started to grab in those areas, It was not more than 6 months before it was all covered.

Thanks for the advise. Amazed by the ease in which the rocks can interlock. A little putty and all is rock solid. The porosity is off the hook.
