Sea Stars

Wow! Do we have a lot of tiny sea stars. Used to be you only saw them when the lights came back on. Not any more. Is this a problem?

google. "asterina starfish" if those are what your looking at then you might have a few problems with them eating certain types of corals

IF they are tiny and thin armed with red and white striping (sometimes not always on the color) then they are great! Micro-brittle stars which will help with cleaning the tank. Harmless detritivores and extremely beneficial.

If you are having a population boom though you might have a detritus problem since they will thrive in dirtier conditions.

I have plenty of those too along with the asterina. The asterina don't seem to be a problem, just the sheer number is amazing. They do flock to the glass when its dusty.

I worry about my pump life with the little rascals getting in there and messing up impellers. I pull out as many as I can whenever I can.
