another skimmer recommendation thread
I have a 135 gallon tank, and a 40B sump.
I am planning on having fish, live rock, and soft corals. i know...... the rule of thumb is the biggest skimmer i can afford, the better. I am looking to get a skimmer that can handle up to 300 gallons. I have been looking at the Reef Octopus as well as others. The biggest issue im having is the sticker shock. Id love to stay around the 300-350 dollar range, if possible. Can anyone recommend any good skimmers that can handle my set up and not break the bank? The best skimmer money can by in my price range. any suggestions? |

I have a 250 litre set up and run a bubble magus 5.5.. Obviously a little small for your set up, but would recommend viewing this range.. Excellent quality and extremely happy with what gets pulled out of the water and the price is lower than some of the 'higher end' items that more than likely do the same thing..

One other thing.. I know you didn't mention it, but check out the Maxspect Gyre.. I did away with 3 powerheads for a single Maxspect Gyre ( Cost effective ) and reduced spacial needs.. Great bit of kit!

I found an SCW 250A skimmer for $200. I know the pumps are known to go, but for the size skimmer and the at that price, i couldnt pass it up.
