Silicone dilemma.....Will it work?

Ok so I admit I didn't do previous research before building DIY baffles and the silicone required. There is much debate between a certain product, GE Silicone. Specifically between GE I and GE II (door/window versus bathroom/kitchen). I read plenty on how GE I is better due to GE II having a mildew resistant "bioseal" that could be the ultimate demise of your tank.

Here is my question. I picked up and used GE Supreme 100% Silicone. This doesn't seem to be GE I or GE II, or I'm not seeing it. Here's the link:

http://www.caulkyourhome.com/ge-sili...kb-supreme.php

Can anyone confirm that this silicone is either safe or dangerous? The sump with the silicone in it is not in use and I can revamp the whole thing if needed. Just don't want to break it down if this stuff is ok. I can't find anything on it though.

Of course any help is appreciated in advance!!

I think the biggest problem is people don't let it cure long enough before adding water. I think once it's completely set, its all inert.

+1, if you want a couple of weeks before adding water for the silicone to cure you should be fine.

Thank you! I figured that's pretty much what all the debate came down to but it was never directly stated. It's been curing for about a week now. I'll just let it sit for another to be sure.

It is the chemicals inside the caulking that cause issues. Most that I know, including myself use SCS 1200.

I think I might go with my feeling of caution on this and start over. The more I look at the ingredients and the msds I get nervous about the "extra" stuff they add for the mold protection.

Do not use any caulking that has any kind of mold resistant ingredients..Bad for critters for sure.
